Education

Degrees, labs, and a lot of coffee:) this is where I’ve been building the foundation for my career.

University of Alberta

Master's of Materials Engineering

Research project (more details)

Title: Glancing Angle Deposition for Oxygen Evolution Reaction
This project is a collaboration between the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) in Edmonton and the Energy Materials Research Group (NRGMATs) at the University of Alberta. The research focuses on fabricating nickel oxide (NiO) nanocolumns using glancing angle deposition (GLAD), a physical vapor deposition technique that grows tilted, porous nanostructures by evaporating material onto the substrate at an oblique angle. These nanostructures are then investigated for their performance in the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in water splitting

MAT E 202 - Materials Science II

(a lot of times)
I’ve been a TA for MAT E 202, where I graded enough lab reports to fill a library and answered more questions about stress–strain curves than I can count. My role included teaching and running experiments for about 40 students across six seminars and four labs on the mechanical and physical properties of materials, including but not limited to tensile testing, compression, and creep. It was a rewarding way to sharpen my own understanding while helping students find their footing in materials science.

Developed skills: 1. Leadership, 2. Expertise in Mechanical Testing, 3. Effective Communication and Engagement

MAT E 494 - Nanostructured Materials

(once)
In this course, we designed three lab sessions for students to fabricate nanostructured materials using anodization, hydrothermal, and physical vapor deposition methods. The students then explored applications of these materials in photocatalysis and electrocatalysis, and in the final session, we guided them through scanning electron microscopy characterization to analyze their results.

Developed skills: 1. Instruction, 2. Expertise in some Nanofabrication methods, 3. Collabration

University of Tehran

Minor in Management

(2020 - 2022)

Courses

- Strategic Management
- Human Resources Management
- Principles of Accounting
- Principles of Financial Management
- Principles and Foundation of Entrepreneurship
- Organizational Behavior Management
- Marketing and Market Management

CGPA: 4/4

Why Management?

I added a minor in Management because even the best ideas need more than lab work to make an impact, they need teamwork, planning, and sometimes a little financial sense. It turned out to be a great way to balance equations with budgets and learn how science meets strategy.

Selected Projects (More Details)

As part of my Management minor, I explored various areas including marketing and entrepreneurship, but focused more deeply on two major projects. In Strategic Management, I analyzed Apple Inc. using SWOT and related strategy tools to prioritize competitive directions. In Financial Management, I conducted a full financial statement analysis of Khuzestan Steel Company, evaluating profitability, liquidity, and long-term stability.

Research project (more details)

Title: Microwave-assisted selective leaching of critical metals from spent lithium-ion batteries using glycine and oxalic acid (Published article)
This paper grew out of my undergraduate research, where we explored a combination of pyro and hydrometallurgical routes for recycling spent lithium-ion batteries. It presents a green microwave-assisted hydrometallurgical method using glycine and oxalic acid for the selective recovery of cobalt, nickel, and manganese. Published in Environmental Science and Pollution Research (Springer Nature, 2025).

Teaching Assistantship

Hydrometallurgy

(once)
I had the opportunity to mentor undergraduate students in the Hydrometallurgy course taught by Dr. Fereshteh Rashchi at the University of Tehran. My responsibilities included teaching the fundamentals of thermodynamic software such as HSC Chemistry and Medusa, and evaluating students’ performance in several laboratory and practical assignments.
